Lila Downs at KEXP

On April 27, I had the chance of stopping by the legendary radio station KEXP in Seattle, WA as part of the Lila Downs "Balas Y Chocolates" tour. Why legendary? Just look at the walls around the studio, all the gold records and posters signed with a bunch of my favorite bands. I got really excited when I saw one for The Postal Service's "Give Up", an album that was very special to me during my time at Berklee. We had the opportunity of recording four tunes live for radio and some video that will be released soon. During that time, the amazing Charina Pitzel took flawless pictures of the band while we sound-checked and recorded. Here are some of them and you can see more of Charina's work for KEXP here. Stay tuned for the fall dates with Lila in September and October.

All the best,

Marcos

Welcome!

Welcome!

Finally, my website is ready for me to share it with you. I'll be sharing new updates and sneak peaks so stay tuned for that.

Let's begin:

So far, 2015 has been a year filled with wonderful blessings. It began with concerts including salsa greats like La India, Ismael Miranda, Tito Nieves, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Jerry Rivera.

About five months ago, I became a percussionist for the Max Weinberg Orchestra, who's director is also the drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and former musical director of Conan O' Brien's Late Night Show in NBC.  We will have a summer residency at the Rainbow Room in Manhattan.

Around March, I had the pleasure of performing with Alex Alvear and Mango Blue, one of my favorite bands, at the Regattabar in Boston and also recorded with them at Congahead Studios.

In April, I had the blessing of going on tour around the U.S. and Canada with Grammy Award winner Lila Downs. Playing on stage with her and her band as well as learning from their culture was an amazing delight.

For the past few months, I’ve been recording drums and percussion on the great Jeremy Bosch’s upcoming fall album, plus recorded timbales in a new single for colombian singer Fonseca.

As I’m writing this, I’m getting ready to play 3 more concerts with Gilberto Santa Rosa and preparing to represent Puerto Rico around North America with Plena Libre.

Stay tuned for some surprises!.

All the best,

Marcos
